O'Reilly Named March 28 Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week; Serro Named to Honor Roll

LANCASTER, PA – Franklin & Marshall College first baseman Pat O’Reilly (Fr., Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) has been named the March 29 Centennial Conference Player of the Week, while right-hander Ted Serro (Jr., Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) was named to the pitchers’ honor roll. At the plate, O’Reilly hit .429 (six-for-14) in a 4-0 week for the Diplomats with four runs scored, one double, one homerun and seven RBI with a .467 on-base percentage. In a 10-6 victory over Messiah College, O’Reilly was two-for-five with a run scored, three RBI and a homerun. In a 13-8 win at The College of New Jersey, he went three-for-six with two runs scored and three RBI. On the year, he ranks second on the team in batting average (.395) as he has 15 hits in 38 at bats. In addition, he leads the Diplomats in runs (12), total bases (25), doubles (four) and slugging percentage (.658), and is tied for the lead in homeruns (two) and RBI (11). Against The College of New Jersey, Serro went seven innings allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks with a career high 11 strikeouts to earn a 13-8 victory. On the year, he has a 3.71 ERA with 21 strikeouts as he improved his career numbers to a 7-4 record with 67 strikeouts in 81 innings. Franklin & Marshall (6-8, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will return to the diamond on March 30 at Ursinus College to open the 2005 Centennial Conference schedule. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. The game will be the first of six games in five days as the Diplomats will host Rutgers University-Camden on March 31, Ursinus College on April 1 and travel to Washington College on April 2 for a doubleheader before hosting Elizabethtown College on April 3.
