Diplomats Rank Among Leaders in March 28 Centennial Conference Baseball Statistics

LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats rank among the Centennial Conference best in the March 28 baseball statistics. As a team the Diplomats rank fifth in hitting (.305), second in ERA (4.21) and fourth in fielding percentage (.944). Individually, Pat O’Reilly (Fr., Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) ranks sixth in slugging percentage (.658), fifth in homeruns (2) and ninth in total bases (25). Gary Kruger (Jr., East Islip, NY/East Islip) ranks second in walks (10) and stolen bases (12), while Dan Hanecak (Jr., Conestoga, PA/Lancaster Catholic) ranks second in triples (two) and Jon Compitello (Jr., Yardley, PA/George School) ranks fifth in homeruns (two). On the mound, Jeff Rowand (Jr., York, PA/Dallastown) ranks seventh in earned run average (2.76) and fourth in batters struck out looking (six). Ted Serro (Jr., Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) ranks fifth in opposing batting average (.206), third in batters struck out (21) and fourth in batters struck out looking (six). EJ Leary (Jr., Seymour, CT/Seymour) ranks third in batters struck out (21) and fourth in batters struck out looking (six), while Jeremy Knox (Jr., Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) ranks seventh in strikeouts (17) and fourth in batters struck out looking (six). Steven Wurster (Fr., Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) ranks fifth in saves (one) and Dan Tischler (Fr., New York, NY/Horace Mann) ranks fifth in games finished (three). Franklin & Marshall (6-8, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will return to the diamond on March 30 at Ursinus College to open the 2005 Centennial Conference schedule. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. The game will be the first of six games in five days as the Diplomats will host Rutgers University-Camden on March 31, Ursinus College on April 1 and travel to Washington College on April 2 for a doubleheader before hosting Elizabethtown College on April 3.
