LANCASTER, PA – Franklin & Marshall College right-handed pitcher Ted Serro (Sr., Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) has been named the April 10 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Pitcher of the Week.

The April 10 Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Wek, he tossed a four-hit shutout with five strikeouts in a seven inning 2-0 win at #21 Johns Hopkins University on April 9. He went the full seven innings against JHU scattering four singles with no walks while fanning five JHU batters in the victory.

Serro dominated the Blue Jays batters not allowing a base runner until the fifth inning and keeping Johns Hopkins off second base until there were two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The win was historic for Serro as he moved into third place in career victories (15-8) at F&M, surpassing Chris Rebman ’73 (14), raised his strikeout total to 178 for third place on the career list and tied Paul Olivett ’90 for eighth on the career complete games list (eight) and eclipsed Rebman for sixth in innings pitched (172.1).

Overall, he appeared twice last week allowing no runs and earning a save in a 6-5 win at Gettysburg as he allowed four hits and struck out nine of 31 batters faced to earn Pitcher of the Week honors.

The 2005 Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year, a member of the NCAA All-Region Tournament team and an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region second team selection, Serro has been nearly unhittable in Centennial Conference games this year as he has a 0.00 ERA and a 2-0 record with no runs allowed and 17 strikeouts in 17 innings.

He is the second Diplomats pitcher to earn the Conference’s only weekly pitching honor as fellow starter Jeremy Knox (Sr., Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) was named the March 20 Pitcher of the Week.

Franklin & Marshall (17-8, 7-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 14 at Haverford in the final game of a home-and-home series. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
