HAVERFORD, PA – Ted Serro (Sr., Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) pitched a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts to record the 16th win of his career and lead the Franklin & Marshall College baseball team to a 9-1 win at Haverford College in Centennial Conference action.

The win tied Serro with Bill Boyle ’95 and Tim Sheridan ’96 for the school wins record. Further, his 10 strikeouts raised his total to 188 as he remained in third place on the career list, moved into a tie with Rick Strothman for fifth in complete games (nine) and remained fifth in innings pitched (181.1).

Franklin & Marshall broke the game open in the fifth inning as the Diplomats plated five runs on two hits and three errors. The big blow of the inning came as third baseman Gary Kruger (Sr., East Islip, NY/East Islip) slugged a grand slam to seal the win.

The Fords cut into the lead as Rahul Munshi singled with two outs, stole second base and scored on an RBI single by Jamie Hollowell to pull Haverford to within 5-1.

F&M added two runs in the sixth and solo runs in the seventh and eighth to notch their 18th win of the year and improve to 37-20-1 all-time against Haverford in baseball since the series began in 1916.

At the plate, Kruger led the Diplomats going three-for-four with five RBI and two runs scored, while Eric Milavsky (Sr., Medford, NJ/Shawnee) was two-for-four with a run scored and an RBI.

On the mound, Ryan Frankel took the loss for Haverford allowing seven runs on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work.
