SWARTHMORE, PA – Jeremy Knox (Sr., Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) went five innings allowing no base runners to pick up his seventh win of the season and the 16th of his career to lead the Franklin & Marshall College baseball team to a 15-2 win at Swarthmore College in Centennial Conference action.

The win ties Knox (16-7) with teammate Ted Serro (Sr., Brooklyn, NY/Xavier), Bill Boyle ’95 and Tim Sheridan ’96 for the school wins record. Further, he surpassed Brian Moore ’79 (126) for seventh in strikeouts as he now has 128 and moved past former teammate John Walsh ’04 (194.2) for second in career innings pitched with 195.2 in 41 appearances, including 23 starts.

Franklin & Marshall never trailed in the game as the Diplomats plated a run in the top of the first inning.

Eric Milavsky (Sr., Medford, NJ/Shawnee) led off the inning with a walk and moved to third on a singled to left centerfield by Rob Stern (So., Franklin Lakes, NJ/Indian Hills) before Pat O’Reilly (So., Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) lifted a sacrifice fly to centerfield to bring in Milavsky for a 1-0 lead.

F&M added another run in the third as Stern singled, stole second base and scored on an RBI single by Gary Kruger (Sr., East Islip, NY/East Islip), before tacking on solo runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take a 4-0 lead.

The Garnet broke through for a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth as against reliever Brad Andres (Fr., Belle Mead, NJ/Carroll) as Swarthmore used two hits, including an RBI single by Sam Faeder, and a bases loaded walk to Ian Adelstein to halve the Diplomats lead to 4-2.

However, Franklin & Marshall sealed the win in the seventh slugging three hits with two walks to score six runs before tacking on two runs in the eighth and three in the ninth for the 15-2 final.

At the plate, Corey Caruthers (Sr., Conestoga, PA/Penn Manor) was two-for-three with three runs scored and an RBI to lead the way, while Milavsky was one-for-three with two RBI and a run scored.

Dylan Smith took the loss for the Garnet allowing three runs on two hits and three walks with a strikeout in three innings of work.

Franklin & Marshall (21-8, 11-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 21 at home versus Swarthmore in the conclusion of a home-and-home series against the Garnet. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Caplan Field.
