Diplomats Rank Among National Leaders in May 8 NCAA Baseball Statistics

LANCASTER, PA – Pitchers Jeremy Knox (Sr., Bronx, NY/Iona Prep), Ted Serro (Sr., Brooklyn, NY/Xaiver) and Matt Metsch (Fr., East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick), third baseman Gary Kruger (Sr., East Islip, NY/East Islip), leftfielder Rich Gallugi (So., Peabody, MA/St. Johns’ Prep) and the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats baseball team rank among the national leaders in the May 8 NCAA Baseball Statistics.

As a team, the Diplomats (28-9, 16-2 Centennial Conference) are ranked 13th in earned run average (2.76 ERA), 16th in stolen bases (2.59 per game), 25th in win-loss percentage (75.7%), 59th in batting average (.326), 81st in double plays (0.86 per game) and 89th in strikeouts per nine innings (6.6 kpg) for their performance through games of May 7.

Individually, Kruger ranks 30th in triples (0.16 per game) with six in 37 games, while Gallugi ranks 12th in toughest to strikeout (36.5 at bats) as he as fanned twice in 73 at bats.

On the mound, Metsch ranks seventh in earned run average (1.25) and first in win-loss (1.000) as he is 6-0 on the year, while Knox is third in victories (10) as he is 10-1 on the season to place one victory off the national lead of 11 victories held by John Dobkowski of John Jay and Buddy Klovstad of Chapman. In addition, Serro is ranked 21st in ERA (1.50) and 49th in strikeouts (9.8) as he is 7-3 this year with 78 strikeouts in 72 innings.

The 2005 and 2006 Centennial Conference champions, Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on May 17-21 in the NCAA Regional Tournament.
