Franklin & Marshall Ranks Among National Leaders in Final 2006 NCAA Baseball Statistics

LANCASTER, PA – Pitchers Jeremy Knox (Sr., Bronx, NY/Iona Prep), Ted Serro (Sr., Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) and Matt Metsch (Fr., East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick), third baseman Gary Kruger (Sr., East Islip, NY/East Islip), outfielder Rich Gallugi (So., Peabody, MA/St. John’s Prep) and the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats baseball team finished among the national leaders in the final 2006 NCAA Baseball Statistics.

As a team, the Diplomats finished 11th in earned run average (2.91 ERA), 18th in stolen bases (2.45 per game), 29th in win-loss percentage (72.5%), 57th in batting average (.325) and 95th in strikeouts per nine innings (6.5 kpg) and double plays (0.83 per game).

Individually, Kruger led the Diplomats at the plate as he ranked 37th in triples (0.15 per game) with six in 40 games, while Gallugi finished ninth in toughest to strikeout with a K every 40.5 at-bats (two strikeouts in 81 at-bats).

On the mound, Metsch ranked second in earned run average (1.22) and first in win-loss percentage (1.000), as he finished 6-0 on the year, while Knox finished fourth in victories (10) as he concluded the season 10-2.

In addition, Serro, who was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays last week, concluded the year eighth in ERA (1.48) and 42nd in strikeouts per nine innings (8.0 kpg).

The 2006 Centennial Conference champions, Franklin & Marshall advanced to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament and concluded the season 29-11, 16-2 in Centennial Conference play.
