LANCASTER, PA -- Division II Millersville's Patti Vetter slashed a shot across the goal plane at the 80:31 mark of overtime to hand the Marauders their first win of the season courtesy a 2-1 defeat of host Franklin & Marshall College. The Diplomats would break onto the scoreboard first as Lindsay Mohr (Fr., Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) connected on a Kate Heintzelman (Sr., Mountaintop, PA/Crestwood) pass at 36:39 in a scramble in front of Millersville goalie Jen Edelman for a 1-0 F&M lead. Millersville (1-10, 0-5 PSAC) would answer right back as Holly Mack chipped a shot which found a crevice in the Diplomats defense for the tying score at 44:12. The game would remain scoreless through the remainder of regulation, forcing the Diplomats second sudden death overtime game of the year. Playing a man down following the ejection of a player, Franklin & Marshall's offense would by stymied in the extra frame before MU's Vetter cracked the tie with a blast. Overall, Millersville would have the better of the scoring opportunities in the game as they outshot F&M 29-6, including a 9-0 run in overtime before tallying the winning goal. Jenny Lindner (Jr., Northport, NY/Friends Academy) recorded 10 saves, while Edelman blocked away seven of F&M's eight shots on goal F&M (4-8, 3-1 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on October 9th in a conference home game versus Bryn Mawr College.
