LANCASTER, PA - Steve Ulrich, Executive Secretary of the Centennial Conference, announced today that Franklin & Marshall College defender Alison Reindle (Jr., Fleetwood, PA/Muhlenberg) has been named the field hockey Player of the Week for the period ending October 22nd.

Last week, Reindle converted a pair of penalty strokes that led to Diplomats victories and a berth in the Centennial Conference field hockey playoffs. In a crucial game against Gettysburg, after assisting on a goal to make it 2-0, Reindle's penalty stroke with 19 minutes to play was the clincher in a 3-1 win over the Bullets. On Saturday, her stroke with 8:29 remaining in a scoreless game was the difference in a 1-0 triumph over Swarthmore to clinch a playoff spot for F&M.

The goals were Reindle's first of the year in Centennial Conference play as she now has three goals and two assists to rank second on the team in points behind senior midfielder Jen Ferris (Sr., West Buxton, ME/Bonny Eagle). Ferris, the October 15 Centennial Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week, has seven goals and an assist for 15 points.

It marks the first time that F&M has garnered consecutive Player of the Week honors in field hockey, as the Diplomats are now 8-9 overall, 7-2 in Centennial Conference play.

With a 1-0 win by the Diplomats over Dickinson yesterday, and a 1-0 loss by Gettysburg to Johns Hopkins earlier in the day, F&M moved ahead of the Bullets and into sole possession of second place in the CC standings as Bullets conclude the regular season 6-3 in CC action.

The loss means that the #4 seeded Bullets will face #1 seed and tournament host Washington College, while F&M will square-off with Johns Hopkins.

Historically, if the Diplomats sweep the Centennial Tournament they will claim their first winning and double-digit win season since a 13-6 mark in 1992.

In addition, with the Conference title, F&M would advance to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 1992. In 1992, F&M defeated Eastern Mennonite 2-0, before falling to Salisbury State 3-0.

In other statistics, F&M goalie Jenny Lindner (Jr., Northport, NY/Friends Academy) is ranked third in shutouts with four, two behind the Conference lead of Dickinson College's Marissa Giorgio with six. In addition, she is seventh in saves (104), eighth in goals against average (1.78 gpg) and tenth in save percentage (78.2) as the Diplomats possess the eighth offense (1.31 gpg) and defense (1.81 gpg) in the Centennial Conference.
