JHU SHUTS OUT F&M IN CC SEMIS

Chestertown, MD-- The Johns Hopkins University field hockey team will have a chance to win its third consecutive Centennial Conference championship after shutting out Franklin & Marshall, 3-0, in a league semifinal this afternoon at Washington College.
The Blue Jays (10-8) put up two goals in the first half. Sophomore forward Kelly Hewitt found the back of the F&M cage with 17:43 to play in the period, while senior midfielder Beth Pollack followed with a goal of her own with 13:40 left before the break.
Hopkins, which allowed just five Diplomat shots in the game, added an insurance goal with 22:31 to play in the second half by senior forward Ashley Robbins. The Diplomats had only five shots on goal, while F&M's junior keeper Jenny Lindner (Northport, NY/ Friends Academy) made six saves in the game. Franklin & Marshall had six penalty corners in the game. The Diplomats finish the regular season with a 8-10, 7-3 in Centennial Conference action.
