Lindner Named 2002 F&M Sportsmanship Award Recipient

Lancaster, PA - Field hockey goalie and lacrosse defender Jenny Lindner (Jr., Northport, NY/Friends School) has been named the 2002 Franklin & Marshall College Sportsmanship Award winner. The award is presented to an F&M athlete for achievements beyond the field of play in fairness and competitive spirit which are not measured in wins and losses but bring pride to the their sport, the College and themselves. For Lindner, the honor follows a season in which she volunteered to become the Franklin & Marshall field hockey goalie following the departure of the starter from the 2000 season. For the year, Lindner registered 1,276 minutes with 32 goals against (1.76 goals per game), 115 saves on 197 shots faced, with five shutouts and a 78.2 save percentage in the cage as Franklin & Marshall finished the year 8-10, equaling their win total from the 2000 season. Founded in 1787, Franklin & Marshall College is a coeducational, liberal arts institution. F&M supports 26 intercollegiate athletic teams, all on the NCAA Division III level except wrestling (NCAA Division I) and men’s and women’s squash (independent). F&M also supports numerous club and intramural activities for both men and women.
