LANCASTER, PA - Brittany Croll (Fr. Frankford, DE/ Indian River) and Eileen Keever (Fr. Prospect Park, PA/ Interboro) keyed the Franklin & Marshall field hockey attack as they defeated non-conference foe Villa Julie 2-0. The two teams would battle to a scoreless first half as F&M had six opportunities to score in the half but Mustang goalie Gina Reuss (Fr. Pasadena, MD/ Northeast) refused to give a goal away leaving the score tied at half 0-0. In the second half, F&M kept the ball in the Mustangs' end of the field for the majority of play. Keever scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the midst of a scramble in front of the net with 21:38 left on the clock, while Croll knocked in an insurance goal with under ten minutes to play as F&M improves to 3-2, 1-0 in the Centennial Conference. Villa Julie (2-6) tried to answer the Diplomats scoring but Jenny Lindner (Northport, NY/ Friends Academy) would be a wall as she recorded six total saves enroute to her second consecutive shutout and third of the year. Franklin & Marshall will return to action on September 21 when they play host to Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) power Eastern Mennonite University. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
