BALTIMORE, MD - # 13 nationally ranked Johns Hopkins University used a Kelly Hewitt goal at the 16:59 mark of the first half to down Franklin & Marshall in field hockey, 1-0. Following a scoreless 15 minutes of play, Johns Hopkins broke the tie at 16:59 as Hewitt used an Anna Relwinkel assist to put the Blue Jays up 1-0. Hopkins tried to increase its advantage later in the half, but Brittany Croll (Fr., Frankford, DE/Indian River) recorded a defensive save on a shot by Hopkins forward Julia Finkel to keep it a one-goal game. Franklin & Marshall out-shot the Blue Jays, 8-1, in the second half, but JHU senior goalkeeper Missi Schafhauser made five of her six saves in the half to keep the Diplomats off the board and record her second shutout of the season. F&M goaltender Jenny Lindner (Sr., Northport, NY/ Friends Academy) recorded three saves on six Hopkins' shots. Historically, F&M is 6-14-1 all-time against Johns Hopkins as the Blue Jays are now 30-5 in their last 35 Centennial Conference games (including CC Tournament games) dating back to the end of the 1998 season.
