LANCASTER, PA - Jen Hespell (Sr., Barto, PA/Boyertown) blasted the ball into the back of the cage nine minutes into the second half to give Franklin & Marshall (4-1, 1-0 CC) a 1-0 victory over # 15 nationally ranked Eastern Mennonite University. The Diplomats put pressure on EMU right from the beginning of the match. F&M had 10 shots in the first half but could not find the open net. Emily Chamelin (Fr., Westminster, MD/ Westminster) stood strong in the cage for the Royals as she made eight saves in the half. The defense was the story for Franklin & Marshall in the opening half as the Diplomats gave up one shot and senior goalkeeper Jenny Lindner (Northport, NY/Friends Academy) came up with the save. The Diplomats would find the back of the cage nine minutes into the second half when Hespell beat the keeper to give Franklin & Marshall a 1-0 lead. The goal would prove to be the game winner as F&M held on for the win. Franklin & Marshall returns to action tomorrow when they play host to #11 nationally ranked Mary Washington College.
