LANCASTER, PA - #11 nationally ranked Mary Washington College used a Shelley Sabo goal at the 24:13 mark in the first half to down Franklin & Marshall in field hockey 1-0.

F&M dominated play in the first half out shooting the Eagles 10 - 4 and keeping the ball on Mary Washington's side of the field. The Eagles would put pressure on the Diplomats late in the first half when goalie Jenny Lindner (Northport, NY/ Friends Academy) made a diving save only to see the ball reach Emily Nagel's stick. Nagel then pushed a pass over to Sabo who deposited the ball into the back of the net.

The Diplomats chances at goal came few and far between in the second half as Mary Washington stepped their defense up and would not let F&M inside the circle to hold on to the shutout.

Historically, the Diplomats are 2-5 against the Eagles with their last win coming in 1985. This is the fifth straight loss for F&M against Mary Washington.

Franklin & Marshall returns to action on September 28 when they travel to Muhlenberg. Game time is set for 5 PM
