LANCASTER, PA - #6 nationally ranked Ursinus College used a Jess Shellaway goal 12:29 into the game to take a 1-0 victory over Franklin & Marshall College in field hockey.

The goal would be all Ursinus needed in the contest as the Bears' defense permitted the Diplomats four shots.

Franklin & Marshall appeared to tie the score midway through the second period, but the goal was disallowed due to the shot hitting the stick of an Ursinus' defender.

In goal, Jenny Lindner (Sr., Northport, NY/Friends Academy) and Michelle Altman (Fr., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) combined to stop 12 shots. For Ursinus, Nicole Monatesti recorded two saves as the Bears improve to 11-1 on the year.

Franklin & Marshall (6-5, 2-1 Centennial Conference) returns to action October 19 at Washington College. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
