Diplomats Finish Among Centennial Conference Leaders in Final Field Hockey Statistics

LANCASTER, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College field hockey team concluded the 2003 season ranked among the leaders in the final Centennial Conference statistics.

In goals, forwards Eileen Keever (So., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) and Brittany Croll (So., Frankford, DE/Indian River) concluded the year ranked in the top 10.

An All-Centennial Conference first team honoree, Keever tallied nine goals and four assists for 22 points to raise her career total to 13 goals and five assists for 31 points. Overall, she concluded the year ranked eighth in goal scoring with 0.50 goals per contest.

A member of the September 8, October 20 and November 4 Centennial Conference Field Hockey Honor Rolls, Keever finished second on the team in scoring. In the final week of the season, she earned honor roll mention for scoring three goals as the Diplomats concluded the 2003 season with an 8-10 record, 4-6 in Centennial Conference play.

Versus #20 Muhlenberg College, she scored both Diplomat goals in the second half as Franklin & Marshall field hockey team stunned #20 nationally ranked Muhlenberg College, 2-1 before concluding the season with a goal in a 3-2 loss to Swarthmore.

Croll, an All-CC second team selection who led the Diplomats in scoring with 11 goals and five assists for 27 points, finished fifth in goals (0.61) and points (1.50) and ninth in assists (0.28) per game.

A member of the September 23 and October 13 Centennial Conference Honor Rolls, she finished the season ranked among the CC's best in goals (0.61, fifth), assists (0.28, seventh) and points (1.50, fifth) per game as she has 18 goals and eight assists for 44 points in two seasons.

In 2002, Croll earned honorable mention accolades after leading the Diplomats in scoring with seven goals and three assists for 17 points.

This year, she registered a career day versus Elizabethtown College on September 15 by scoring four goals in a 5-2 victory over the 'Jays. The win snapped a four game losing streak to Elizabethtown as Franklin & Marshall had not defeated the Blue Jays since 1997.

In goal, keeper Michelle Altman (So., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) concluded the year ranked third in saves (165), sixth in save percentage (.801), seventh in goals against average (2.27) and tenth in shutouts (one) as she allowed 41 goals and recorded 165 saves in 1,263 minutes of play.

In front of Altman, defender Erin Benjamin (Jr., Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) tied for eighth in the Conference in defensive saves with four.

As a team, the Diplomats concluded the year ranked fourth in scoring offense (2.39 gpg), seventh in scoring defense (2.27 gpg), seventh in defensive saves (eight) and 11th in shutouts (one) as the squad scored 43 goals and allowed 41 in 1,263 minutes of play.

Franklin & Marshall concluded the year 8-10, 4-6 in Centennial Conference play as the team placed seventh in the final CC standings.
