#16 Eastern Mennonite Holds Off #19 Franklin & Marshall 3-1 in Field Hockey

HARRISONBURG, VA - Jonalyn Denlinger scored and added an assist to lead #16 Eastern Mennonite University over #19 Franklin & Marshall College 3-1 in field hockey.

EMU jumped on the board first six minutes into the game as Kristin Moyer scored her 13th goal of the season as she weaved through two Diplomat defenders to find the back of the cage and give the Lady Royals a 1-0 lead. The lead held for the rest of the first half as EMU went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The Diplomats answered in the second half as Brenna Dolphin (Fr., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) blasted a shot that found the cage off a Brittany Croll (So., Frankford, DE/Indian River) assist three minutes into the half to knot the score at 1-1.

Four minutes later the Royals recaptured the lead as Denlinger assisted on a Stephanie Derstine score and added a goal to close out the scoring.

Overall, Franklin & Marshall dominated the game statistically with 23 shots and 22 corners to Eastern Mennonites 11 and six.

In goal, Michelle Altman (So., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) recorded five saves.

Franklin & Marshall College will return to action on September 21 in Fredricksburg, Virginia versus #11 Mary Washington College. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
