LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College is ranked #20 in the September 23 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Coaches Poll. Ranked #19 in the September 16 poll, the Diplomats went 0-2 on the week falling at #9 Mary Washington College (5-2 L) and at #11 Eastern Mennonite University (3-1 L) to fall to 3-3 on the year. Versus Mary Washington, the Diplomats jumped on the scoreboard first as Eileen Keever (So., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) converted an assist from Brenna Dolphin (Fr., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) at the 23:11 mark for a 1-0 lead at halftime. However, the Eagles dominated in the second half out-shooting the Diplomats 15-3. Following a Mary Washington goal to tie the score, Brittany Croll (So., Frankford, DE/Indian River) banged in the go-ahead score 24 seconds later off a Stacy Swymelar (So., Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) assist to put the Diplomats up 2-1. Eighteen minutes later, McMahon finished a Startt assist to tie the game and open the floodgates as the Eagles pounded in four goals in nine minutes to take the three goal victory. Against Eastern Mennonite, the Diplomats came back from a 1-0 deficit to tie the score in the second half as Dolphin blasted a shot that found the cage off an assist from Croll three minutes into the half. However, EMU added two scores in the final minutes for the 3-1 win. Overall, Franklin & Marshall dominated the game statistically with 23 shots and 22 corners to Eastern Mennonites 11 and six. On the year, Franklin & Marshall has been led by the scoring of Croll who ranks first on the squad in goals (six) and points (13). Between the pipes, goalie Michelle Altman (So., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) is allowing 2.65 goals per game with 16 goals allowed in 423 minutes of play and a .758 save percentage. Franklin & Marshall will return to the field on September 24 at home versus unranked Villa Julie College. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
