LANCASTER, PA -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced the selection of Franklin & Marshall College field hockey forward Jen Hespell (Sr., Barto, PA/Boyertown) to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District II College Division Women's At-Large Third Team.

In her senior season, Hespell finished second on the team in scoring with seven goals and one assist for 15 points to earn her second straight Coaches Award. In addition, her seven-goal total marked the team high as she helped lead the squad to a 10-8 record and a berth in the Centennial Conference playoffs while serving as a team captain.

The honor marks Hespell's second national academic recognition as she was named to the 2002 and 2003 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Team.

A Marshall, Hackman and Dana Scholarship recipient, she is a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta (pre-medical honor society), Black Pyramid (senior honor society) and Phi Betta Kappa honor societies. In addition, she is a three-year recipient of Delphic Athletic Honor Society honors.

The District II region includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The women's at-large program includes all athletes competing in the varsity sports of crew, gymnastics, skiing, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, water polo, field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, golf and rifle.

To be nominated for the Verizon All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
