F&M Announces Class of 2007 Field Hockey Recruits

LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College head field hockey coach Melissa Reiss has announced an eleven-woman recruiting class that have submitted their deposit and will comprise the Diplomats' class of 2007.

Leading the class is Brenna Dolphin, a midfielder/defender of Wilmington, Delaware. A graduate of Archmere Academy, Dolphin was a three time All-Conference first team selection and earned the Marinelli Award in 2000.

A three-time Most Valuable Player for Archmere, she earned the institution's Midfield MVP award in 2002, the Defensive MVP in 2000 and was named the Team MVP in 2001.

Joining Dolphin will be another three-time All-Conference selection from Archmere Academy in forward/midfielder Jess Senior of Wilmington, Delaware.

The Diplomats will have added depth in the fall as seven freshmen midfielders will join the team as Alison Finley of Riverdell High School will be joined by Princeton's Emily Burns, the Tatnall School's Cathy Perrotto, Maumee Valley Country Day's Maggie Onasch and Glenelg Country School's Katie Bauer.

For Onasch, of Bowling Green, OH, cracking the starting lineup will be a family affair as she joins sister and fellow midfielder Liz Onasch '05 on the Diplomats' roster

Finley, a first team All-League and All-County selection from Oradell, NJ, was named to the Senior All-Star Team last year.

A team captain and three-time league all-star from Landenberg, PA, Perrotto may also appear at defender next year.

Bauer, a native of Ellicott City, MD, will be another possible two-position player as she may see time at forward.

An All-Conference All-Star, Bauer ranked fourth in scoring last year and the county with 22 assists to earn All-Howard County first team recognition.

Three other forwards will joining Bauer and Senior at forward next year as New Oxford's Lindsey Mummert of New Oxford, PA, the Groton School's Kate West of Washington D.C. and Lewisburg's Tara Kleppinger of Lewisburg, PA, join the team.

Further, the team adds a defender in the Baldwin School's Christine Hanhausen.

A native of Wayne, PA, Hanhausen was a league All-Star and a team captain last year.

Franklin & Marshall finished the 2002 field hockey season 10-8, 6-3 in the Centennial Conference for the first winning season in program history since the 1992 team went 13-6.

Founded in 1787, Franklin & Marshall College is a coeducational, liberal arts institution. Approximately 1,850 students from 40 states and 60 foreign countries are enrolled in the college's 36 academic disciplines. Franklin & Marshall College supports 26 intercollegiate athletic teams, all on the NCAA Division III level except wrestling (NCAA Division I) and men's and women's squash (independent). F&M also supports multiple club and intramural activities for both men and women.
