#10 Diplomats Manage Mary Washington 4-1 in Field Hockey

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Brittany Croll (Sr., Frankford, DE/Indian River) scored a pair of goals and Lindsey Mummert (Jr., New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) added a goal and an assist as the #10 nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall College field hockey team downed host the University of Mary Washington 4-1 in non-conference action. Croll gave the Diplomats all that they would need in the game’s opening 15 minutes as she fired a shot through the leg pads of Mary Washington goalie Katherine Brown at the 9:29 mark before finishing a pass from Brenna Dolphin (Jr., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) at 14:49 for the game-winner. Mummert added to the margin at 19:27 as she put home a shot inside the far post from the right side of the cage for a 3-0 lead prior to halftime. Mary Washington attempted to rally in the second half as Brynn Maguire found Kiri Jimerson on a penalty corner at 39:02 to move to within two goals, but Eileen Keever (Sr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) connected on a pass from Mummert at 65:35 for insurance as the Diplomats (5-1, 0-0 Centennial Conference) rolled to their fifth win of the season In goal, Michelle Altman (Sr., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) made six saves on 10 Mary Washington shots, while Brown stopped 11 of the Diplomats’ 18 shots. Franklin & Marshall (5-1, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on September 22 at home versus York College of Pennsylvania.
