LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College field hockey team moved to #11 in the September 20 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Coaches Poll. Ranked #11 in the final 2004 poll and #10 last week, Franklin & Marshall has opened the season 5-1 as the team has defeated CW Post (2-0 W), Drew (2-1 OT W), Elizabethtown (5-2 W), #12 Lebanon Valley (3-2 OT W) and Mary Washington (4-1 W) and fell to Eastern Mennonite University (2-1 L). The Diplomats are one of three Centennial Conference teams ranked in the top 20 as Ursinus College (3-1) is picked #6 and Gettysburg College (4-2) is #16. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll is voted upon by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2005 NCAA Division III Championship field. Franklin & Marshall (5-1, 0-0 CC) will return to action on September 22 at home versus York College of Pennsylvania.
