LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College field hockey team remained #12 in the October 4 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Coaches Poll. Ranked #11 in the final 2004 poll, #10 on September 13, #11 on September 20 and #12 last week, Franklin & Marshall has opened the season 8-2 as the team has defeated CW Post University (2-0 W), Drew University (2-1 OT W), #20 Elizabethtown College (5-2 W), #13 Lebanon Valley College (3-2 OT W), University of Mary Washington (4-1 W), York College (2-1 W), Haverford College (5-0 W) and Washington College (1-0 W OT) with losses to Eastern Mennonite University (2-1 L) and #2 Ursinus College (2-1 L). The Diplomats are one of three Centennial Conference teams ranked in the top 20 as Ursinus is picked #2 and Gettysburg College is #17. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll is voted upon by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2005 NCAA Division III Championship field.
