#17 Gettysburg Defeats #12 Franklin & Marshall 2-1 in Field Hockey

LANCASTER, PA – Meg Goddu scored at the 43:02 mark to lead #17 Gettysburg College over #12 Franklin & Marshall 2-1 in a match-up of nationally ranked Centennial Conference field hockey opponents. The Diplomats opened the scoring 9:58 into the game as Brenna Dolphin (Jr., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) found Brittany Croll (Sr., Frankford, DE/Indian River) in front of the cage for a 1-0 lead. Gettysburg responded two minutes later as Amy Morris stole a crossing pass in the Diplomats end of the field and buried a shot into the right corner of the cage to knot the score at 1-1. Following halftime, Gettysburg took the lead as Goddu tallied an unassisted goal to put the Bullets in front to stay. In goal, Michelle Altman (Sr., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) made two saves and allowed a goal in the first half, while Lindsay Klimik (Sr., Brick, NJ/Brick) stopped one shot and allowed a goal in the second half to take the loss. For Gettysburg, Katherine Corkhill made three saves and allowed a goal to earn the win. Franklin & Marshall (8-3, 2-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on October 8 at Johns Hopkins University.
