F&M Moves to #16 in October 11 STX/NFHCA Division III Field Hockey Poll

LANCASTER, PA – The Franklin & Marshall College field hockey team moved to #16 in the October 11 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Coaches Poll. Ranked #11 in the final 2004 poll, #10 on September 13, #11 on September 20 and #12 on September 27 and October 4, Franklin & Marshall has opened the season 8-4 as the team has defeated CW Post University (2-0 W), Drew University (2-1 OT W), #18 Elizabethtown College (5-2 W), #14 Lebanon Valley College (3-2 OT W), the University of Mary Washington (4-1 W), York College (2-1 W), Haverford College (5-0 W) and Washington College (1-0 W OT) with losses to Eastern Mennonite University (2-1 L), #17 Gettysburg College (2-1 L), Johns Hopkins University (7-0 L) and #1 Ursinus College (2-1 L). The Diplomats are one of three Centennial Conference teams ranked in the top 20 joining Ursinus and Gettysburg. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll is voted upon by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2005 NCAA Division III Championship field. Franklin & Marshall (8-4, 2-3 CC) will return to action on October 12 at home versus McDaniel College. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. October 11 STX/NFHCA Division III Field Hockey Poll 1.
