Reiss Resigns as Field Hockey Coach

LANCASTER, PA – Franklin & Marshall College field hockey
coach Melissa Reiss has announced her resignation.
Appointed head coach on August 18, 1999, Reiss led Franklin & Marshall to a 66-65 record in seven seasons as she concludes her career second in wins and sixth in winning percentage at the College. Under Reiss, the Diplomats improved from 4-15 in 1999 to 16-5 in 2004 as the team advanced to the Centennial Conference title game, finished with a #11 national ranking and earned a berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) playoffs. This season, the Diplomats finished 12-7 as the team concluded the season with a #19 national ranking and a berth in the ECAC playoffs. Overall, she led the Diplomats to the Centennial Conference playoffs four times (2001, 2002, 2004, 2005) and to the Eastern College Athletic Conference playoffs twice (2004, 2005). She joined the Franklin & Marshall staff in 1996 as an assistant coach. Originally from Millersville, PA and a 1992 graduate of Penn Manor High School, Reiss graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. At LVC, Reiss was a captain and four-year starter for the field hockey team playing an integral role as the Dutchwomen won one Middle Atlantic Conference championship, finished second once and advanced to the NCAA Division III championship tournament three times. A dean's list student while at Lebanon Valley, she was named to the MAC and College Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Academic teams.
