Diplomats Named National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Team

LANCASTER, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College field hockey team has been honored with a 2005 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Team Award.

Teams selected for NFHCA Academic Team honors are nominated by their coach and must attain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher during their season.

Leading the way for the Diplomats were forwards Brittany Croll (Sr., Lewes, DE/Indian River), Eileen Keever (Sr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) and Amy Swymelar (So., Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville), midfielders Maggie Onasch (Jr., Bowling Green, OH/Maumee Valley) and Lindsay Solar (So., King of Prussia, PA/Upper Merion), defenders Brittany Carson (So., Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) and Samantha Bentley (So., Woolwich, NJ/Archmere Academy) and goalkeeper Lindsay Klimik (Sr., Brick, NJ/Brick) who were named to the 2005 NFHCA Division III Academic All-Star squad.

Student-athletes selected to the NFHCA Academic Squad were nominated by their coaches and attained a minimum overall GPA of at least 3.30 through the first semester of the 2005-06 academic year.

Franklin & Marshall concluded the season with a 12-7 record as the team finished with a #19 national ranking, a berth in the Centennial Conference and ECAC playoffs and a 6-4 record in Centennial Conference play.
