LANCASTER, PA -- The Franklin & Marshall Athletic Department will be hosting a "Midnight Madness" Basketball celebration on Friday, October 19 in the Mayser Center for faculty, staff, administration and fans of Diplomats' men's basketball. The event, which will run from midnight until 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, will feature the introduction of F&M's 2001-02 pre-season basketball roster in addition to a short demonstration, scrimmage and slam dunk contest by this year's players. Fans will be able to get in on the action, as a half court contest with prizes will take place with head coach Glenn Robinson. Earlier this week, Street & Smith Sports Group announced the selection of Franklin & Marshall College as the #2 team in its NCAA Division III pre-season poll and selected two-time All-American Alex Kraft (Sr., Lansdale, PA/Lansdale Catholic) a pre-season All-America pick. The Diplomats return 12 lettermen and all five starters to a team which finished 18-7 overall, 10-4 in Centennial Conference play last season. F&M will return to the court against Springfield College at 8:00 p.m. on November 16, 2001 in the 35th Annual S. Woodrow Sponaugle Collegiate Basketball Classic at the Mayser Center. Scranton and Salem State, selected as a "possible breakthrough" team by Street & Smith, will meet in the other opening round game.
