Franklin & Marshall-Swarthmore Men's Basketball Game to be Broadcast on Internet

LANCASTER, PA – The Centennial Conference has announced that the November 27 Franklin & Marshall College-Swarthmore College men’s basketball game will be broadcast by the Centennial Conference Basketball Network via the internet. The game has double significance for Franklin & Marshall as it marks the Centennial Confernece season opener for both teams as the Diplomats will look to capture their 30th victory over the Garnet Tide dating back to a loss during the 1975 season. Further, it could be a special day for Franklin & Marshall head coach Glenn Robinson who enters the contest with a 699-243 record in 35 seasons at Franklin & Marshall College. On November 22, the Diplomats defeated Juniata College 82-60 for win #699 of Robinson’s career. A victory against the Garnet would mark the 700th of his career as he will become the 10th active coach and 25th all-time to earn his place among the pantheon of basketball coaches. The head coach of the Diplomats since taking over the program prior to the 1971-72 season and the all-time wins leader in NCAA Division III history, he will join Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp, Bobby Knight, Jim Phelan, Big House Gaines, Jerry Johnson, Don Meyer, Herb Magee, Lefty Driesell, Eddie Sutton, Lou Henson, Henry Iba, Ed Diddle, Phog Allen, Lute Olson, Jerry Tarkanian, Norm Stewart, John Chaney, Ray Meyer, Mike Krzyzewski, Don Haskins, Jim Boeheim, Jim Calhoun and Dick Sauers in the exclusive club of coaches. Historically, Robinson has guided the Diplomats to the Division III Final Four in 1979, 1991, 1996 and 2000 and was named the Basketball Times Division III "Coach of the Year" in 1991. He has earned conference and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) regional "Coach of the Year" honors 12 times, including the 2004 award for guiding the Diplomats to a 26-4 record, the Centennial Conference title and an NCAA Elite Eight berth.
