LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College men's basketball guard Andrew McCaffrey (Jr., Exeter, NH/Phillips Exeter) has been named to the 2006 National Association of Basketball Coaches Academic Honor Roll. The NABC Academic Honor Roll salutes players at four-year colleges who are in their junior or senior years and hold a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or higher. Overall, he was among over 700 selections from NCAA Divisions I, II and III as well as NAIA Divisions I and II. An economics major, McCaffrey appeared in 24 of the team’s 25 games this year, including two starts, as he tallied 37 points, 20 rebounds, 22 assists, three blocks and 19 steals in 258 minutes as Franklin & Marshall concluded the regular season 13-12 as the Diplomats clinched their ninth straight winning season and the 20th in the last 21 years. The largest professional association of basketball coaches, the NABC currently claims a membership of nearly 5,000 men's basketball coaches throughout the ranks of the NCAA, NAIA, junior and community colleges and high school. Since its inception, the NABC has contributed numerous ideas and programs to help preserve and enhance the positive aspects of college basketball. These initiatives include establishing the original Basketball Hall of Fame (Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame), creating the format for today's NCAA Basketball Tournament, supporting Coaches vs. Cancer and building the NABC National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the newly conceived Sprint Center Arena to be located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
