LEBANON, PA – Ross Brown (Fr., Kingston, PA/Wyoming Seminary), Bryan Hartog (Fr., Richmond Hill, Ontario/Heritage) and Mark Quick (Sr., Forest Hill, MD/St. Paul’s) shot 76 in the rain to tie for seventh place with five other golfers as the Franklin & Marshall College men’s golf team finished second of 20 teams at the 2005 Lebanon Valley College Men’s Golf Fall Invitational at the par 72 Lebanon Country Club. Brown and Hartog led the Diplomats on the front nine shooting 37 before finishing the back nine with scores of 39, while Quick shot 38-38 to key Franklin & Marshall’s top five. Rounding out the scorers was Dennis Gunderson (Fr., Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) who carded a 77 (39-38) to tie for 15th place and Kevin Penhallagon (So., Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven) who chipped in for a 78 (38-40) to tie for 21st. F&M’s team score was a 10-stroke improvement of the team’s showing at the Franklin & Marshall College Invitational at Bent Creek Country Club on September 19 in which Moravian College won the invitational with a 305, while Keystone College (308) was second and Messiah College (311) to edge out the sixth place Diplomats. At the LVC Invitational, the Diplomats downed all three colleges as Keystone (309) finished third, Moravian (311) fourth and Messiah (317) sixth while York College of Pennsylvania (300) won the invitational title by five strokes over Franklin & Marshall. Lebanon Valley’s Mike Wilhelm earned medalist honors carding a par 72 (38-34), while Keystone’s Larry Abrams was second with a 73 (35-38). Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on October 6 at the Elizabethtown Invitational at Hershey Country Club. TEAM RESULTS
