DURHAM, NC -- Colin Hanley (Fr., Davidsonville, MD/DeMatha) netted a goal :41 seconds into overtime to hand the Franklin & Marshall College men's lacrosse team its second win of the season in a 12-11 overtime victory over Kenyon College at Duke University.

F&M (2-1), which suffered its first loss of the season in a 11-10 double overtime defeat at Hampden Sydney College earlier in the week, would jump out on top quickly to lead 6-5 after the second quarter.

Following a third which saw both teams tally four goals, the Lords would go ahead 11-10 with back-to-back goals with 10:15 and 9:58 left on the game clock.

With 6:39 to play, Chris Wathey (So., South Huntington, NY/St. Anthony's) dodged his way through the Kenyon defense to pivot and fire the tying score off a feed from senior attacker Andrew Kuskowski (Huntington, NY/Huntington) to force overtime.

In the overtime, Hanley would waste little time in finishing the game weaving through the Lords to rifle a shot past goalie Dave Neiman just 41 seconds in for the 12-11 final.

In goal, F&M freshmen Mike Sartorius (Summit, NJ/Summit) and Will McIntire (Arlington, VA/Taft) split time, as Sartorius stopped 8 shots and allowed nine goals before being relieved by McIntire prior to the start of the fourth quarter. Kenyon's Neiman recorded 12 saves and permitted 12 scores while playing the entire game.

Through three games, Wathey leads the Diplomats in goals scored with nine, while sophomore attackman Vandy Vanderwarker (Keswick, VA/STAB) ranks second with six goals, including four against Kenyon.

Franklin & Marshall will continue season on March 9, as the Diplomats will visit Lynchburg College before facing perennial power Washington & Lee on March 16. Franklin & Marshall will open the 2002 home season on March 20 versus Colorado College at 3:30 p.m. Admission to all F&M home games is free and open to the public.
