Department of Athletics Announces Class of 2006 Men's Lacrosse Recruits

Franklin and Marshall will look to Jon Singer (Sr., Reisterstown,
MD/Boy'sLatin), Colin Hanley (So., Davidsonville, MD/Dematha),
Steve Welsh (So., Lewes, DE/Cape Henelopen) and Chris Wathey
(Jr., South Huntington, NY/ St. Anthony's) to spark the F&M
offense in 2003, while Mike Sartorius (So., Summit, NJ/Summit)
will again be looked upon to mind the cage.
Singer had 24 goals and 10 assists for 34 points, while Hanley
recorded 20 goals and 8 assists for 28 points in his freshman
year to pace the Diplomats in 2001. Welsh led the team in
Centennial Conference goals with 12 while recording 21-8-29
for the season. An addition to the offense in 2003 will be
Wathey, who had 16 points in the first three games of the
year before having his season cut short with an injury.
Between the pipes, Sartorius stopped 208 shots in 898 minutes of play with a save percentage of .627 to rank among the elite goaltenders in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Franklin & Marshall finished the year 9-7, 3-3 in Centennial Conference play. Overall, F&M's season record marked the program's second winning season since a 9-4 finish in 1996, a year in which the Diplomats placed ninth in the final national poll. The 2001 Diplomats also finished 9-7, 3-3 in Conference play.
