LANCASTER, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College men's lacrosse team moved up four spots to rank #10 in the March 24 STX/USILA Division III Top 20 Poll/ Ranked #25 in the preseason poll, #22 in the opening week poll and #14 last week, the Diplomats defeated Randolph Macon (11-6 W) and Haverford (16-2 W) last week to improve to 6-0, 2-0 in CC play. Historically, this week's ranking marks F&M's highest recognition in the national poll since the Diplomats were ranked #7 in the 1996 pre-season poll. Last week, midfielder Jon Singer (Sr., Reisterstown, MD/Boy's Latin) scored seven goals and dished out four assists to lead the Diplomats over Randolph Macon and Haverford as the team improved to 6-0, 2-0 in CC play. For his performance, Singer was named the March 24 Centennial Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week. The honor marks the second time this season that the CC Office has honored Singer as he was named the Player of the Week on March 10. On the year, Singer now has 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points as he now has 79 goals and 40 assists for 119 career points, 21 goals short of surpassing Paul Friedman '75 (99) for eighth place in goals scored in F&M history. In the latest Centennial Conference statistical rankings, Singer is third in points (4.67) and assists (2.50) and eighth in goals (2.17) per game to lead a Diplomats' offense which tops the Conference in scoring with 13.67 goals per game. Further, F&M ranks first in team man-up percentage (13-of-28, 46.4%) and second in scoring defense (4.00) and team man down percentage (29-of-32, 90.6%). In addition to Singer, attackmen Bryan Nolan (Sr., Scottsdale, AZ/Western Reserve) and Steve Welsh (So., Lewes, DE/Cape Henelopen) are tied for fifth in points per game (3.50) in the Conference. In goal, Mike Sartorius (So., Summit, NJ/Summit) is the top goaltender as he ranks first in goals against average (4.5) and save percentage (74.1) among the Conference's ten starting goalies. Franklin & Marshall (6-0, 2-0 CC) will continue the season on Wednesday, March 26 at home on Williamson Field versus Goucher College.
