Singer Named to Verizon Academic All-District II Men's At-Large Team

LANCASTER, PA -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced the selection of Franklin & Marshall College midfielder Jon Singer (Sr., Reisterstown, MD/Boys' Latin) to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District II College Division Men's At-Large second team. An NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship candidate, Singer topped the team in scoring with 26-30-56 as he led the program to a 12-4 record and a berth in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse quarterfinals while earning All-Centennial Conference first team honors. A 2001 Honorable Mention and 2002 Second Team All-CC recipient, Singer led the team in goals scored in 2002 (24) and 2001 (27) to conclude his career at the College with 92-55-147. A 2003 Pre-Season All-America honorable mention selection, he led the Diplomats to the 2002 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship as a junior. Off the field, his accomplishments have been as equally impressive. A Marshall Scholar, Singer was actively involved in service working as community service director for Chi Pi Fraternity and volunteering as a coach and referee for both the Lancaster (PA) and Reisterstown (MD) Recreation Councils A three-year member of the Delphic Honor Society, he will attend the University of Maryland Dental School next year. Overall, Singer was one of two lacrosse players named to the Verizon All-District team joining first team selection Brian Lalli of Stevens Institute of Technology. The District II region includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The men's at-large program includes all athletes competing in the varsity sports of crew, gymnastics, skiing, volleyball, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, water polo, lacrosse, wrestling, tennis, golf and rifle. To be nominated for the Verizon All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
