LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College ranks fifth in the April 29 NCAA South Region Men's Lacrosse Rankings. The strength of F&M (9-4, 4-3 Centennial Conference) has been the team's defense as goalie Mike Sartorius (Jr., Summit, NJ/Summit) and the team's defense rank among the nation's best in the April 26 NCAA Division III men's lacrosse statistics. Sartorius ranks 11th in goals against average (7.01 gaa) as he has allowed 82 goals with 138 saves on 297 shots in 702 minutes of play with a 62.7 save percentage. For his career, he has allowed 328 goals with 522 saves on 1,099 shots in 2451 minutes of his three-year tenure between the pipes for the Diplomats. In front of Sartorius, the Diplomats defense is ranked 14th in the nation in scoring defense with 7.9 goals allowed per game (84 goals in 12 games), just off the pace of national leader Salisbury (5.73 gpg). In addition, the team ranks 19th in winning percentage at 75% as the Diplomats are 9-3, 4-2 in the Centennial Conference. Overall, #1 nationally ranked Salisbury University leads the regional poll, while Washington, Gettysburg, Washington & Lee and F&M round out the top five teams. Behind the Diplomats, Roanoke, Hampden-Sydney and Whittier cap off the best eight teams in the South Region. Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on May 1 at home versus Gettysburg College in the regular season finale. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at Williamson Field.
