Diplomats Rank #22 in May 9 USILA Division III Men's Lacrosse Poll

LANCASTER, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College men's lacrosse team is ranked #22 in the May 9 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association STX/Geico Division III Coaches Poll.

Two keys to the ranking were Cyrus Adams (So., Nashville, TN/Montgomery Bell) and Steve Welsh (Sr., Lewes, DE/Cape Henelopen) who combined for 61 goals and 50 assists this season.

The team’s leading scorer with 20 goals and 45 assists for 65 points, Welsh concludes his career with 84 goals and 112 assists 196 points as he ranks second in assists and fifth in points in school history.

Adams led the team in goals scored as he tallied 41-5-46 as the Diplomats outscored their opponents 142-109.

In goal, Mike Sartorius (Sr., Summit, NJ/Summit) concluded the year with a 7.32 goals against average and .620 save percentage as he finishes his career with a 8.03 gaa and a .604 save percentage in his career and ranks first in F&M history in saves with 678 in 3324:26.

Another key to the Diplomats success was face-offs as Matt Capone (Sr., Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) won 207-of-286 (72.37%) face-offs to raise his career total to 706-for-918 (76.90%).

Franklin & Marshall concludes the season 9-5, 5-3 in Centennial Conference play as it marks the fifth straight season the Diplomats have recorded nine or more wins to tie the school record of the 1970-74 Diplomats.
