LANCASTER, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College men's lacrosse team remained #18 in the April 18 Laxpower.com NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Forum Poll. Leading the way have been attackmen Cyrus Adams (So., Nashville, TN/Montgomery Bell) and Steve Welsh (Sr., Lewes, DE/Cape Henelopen) who have combined for 40 goals and 28 assists through the first eight games of the season. The team’s leading scorer with 13 goals and 28 assists for 41 points, Welsh assisted on three goals in leading the Diplomats in a 6-5 loss to #9 Washington College on April 16. The points raised his career-scoring total to 77-95-172 to surpass Peter Bidstrup ’86 for sole possession of fifth place in scoring at the College. Further, he is now five assists away from joining Jon Dale ’90 (218) and Bill Levy ’87 (102) as the only players with 100 career assists at Franklin & Marshall College. Adams leads the team in goals scored as he has tallied 27-3-30 to date as the Diplomats are outscoring their opponents 90-58. In goal, Mike Sartorius (Sr., Summit, NJ/Summit) has a 6.08 goals against average and .669 save percentage as he now has a 7.90 gaa and a .613 save percentage in his career and ranks first in F&M history in saves with 633 in 3038:51. The key to the Diplomats success has been on defense and face-offs as Matt Capone (Sr., Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) has won 131-of-170 (77.1%) face-offs to raise his career total to 629-for-802 (78.4%) and the Franklin & Marshall defense is holding opponents to 6.32 goals per game.
