Franklin & Marshall Moves to #19 in April 25 USILA/STX Division III Men's Lacrosse Poll

LANCASTER, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College men's lacrosse team is ranked #19 in the April 25 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association STX/Geico Division III Coaches Poll.

Ranked #16 in the April 18 USILA poll, the ranking marks the second of the week for the Diplomats as F&M is ranked #20 in the Laxpower.com poll.

Leading the way have been attackmen Cyrus Adams (So., Nashville, TN/Montgomery Bell) and Steve Welsh (Sr., Lewes, DE/Cape Henelopen) who have combined for 50 goals and 41 assists through the first 11 games of the season.

The team’s leading scorer with 15 goals and 37 assists for 52 points, Welsh tallied two goals and nine assists last week to raise his career assists total to 104 and surpass Bill Levy ’82 (102) for second place on the career list behind Jon Dale ’90 (218). For his career, Welsh has 79-104-183 as he ranks fifth in points in Franklin & Marshall College men’s lacrosse history.

Adams leads the team in goals scored as he has tallied 35-4-39 to date as the Diplomats are outscoring their opponents 113-82.

In goal, Mike Sartorius (Sr., Summit, NJ/Summit) has a 6.81 goals against average and .644 save percentage as he now has a 7.97 gaa and a .610 save percentage in his career and ranks first in F&M history in saves with 655 in 3144:26.

The key to the Diplomats success has been on defense and face-offs as Matt Capone (Sr., Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) has won 163-of-222 (73.4%) face-offs to raise his career total to 661-for-854 (77.4%) and the Franklin & Marshall defense is holding opponents to 7.34 goals per game.

Franklin & Marshall (8-3, 4-2 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 27 at home versus McDaniel College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
