LANCASTER, PA – Kenneth Hutton has been named assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Franklin & Marshall College. The defensive coordinator at NCAA Division II Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California, he helped the team to records of 7-6 (2004) and 14-3 (2005) in the program’s first two seasons. In 2005, Hutton oversaw a defense that allowed 5.8 goals per game and registered a pair of shutouts versus Dominican University (22-0 W, 19-0 W) as the Argos concluded the season ranked #12 in the final United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division II poll. The 1999 McDaniel College Co-Rookie of the Year, Hutton transferred to Whittier College in California the following fall. The 2001 and 2002 Defensive Most Valuable Player at Whittier, his best season came in 2002 as he served as a team captain and was named an honorable mention All-America selection while leading the Poets to the NCAA quarterfinals before losing 13-12 to national champion Middlebury College. A 2002 graduate of Whittier with a degree in Kinesiology, he served as an assistant coach at Whittier overseeing two All-America selections and helping the Poets advance to the NCAA “Final Four” before falling to national champion Salisbury University. A native of Annapolis, Maryland and a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Hutton joins a Franklin & Marshall lacrosse staff which finished the 2005 season 9-5, 5-3 in Centennial Conference play, as the record marked the fifth straight season the Diplomats have recorded nine or more wins to tie the school record of the 1970-74 Diplomats.
