Atkins Scores Four Goals as Diplomats Edge FDU-Florham 10-8 in Men's Lacrosse

CLEARWATER, FL -- Bobby Atkins (So., Concord, MA/Loomis Chaffee) scored four goals as the Franklin & Marshall College men’s lacrosse team handled Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham 10-8 in non-conference action. The win keeps Franklin & Marshall (3-1, 0-0 Centennial Conference) perfect against FDU-Florham (0-1, 0-0 Middle Atlantic Conference) in men’s lacrosse as the Diplomats are now 8-0 all-time against the Blue Devils. Further, the game marked the first meeting between the two programs since 1980. The teams traded goals in the first period, but Franklin & Marshall put the game away in the second and third periods outscoring the Blue Devils 7-3 to take a 9-4 lead into the fourth period. FDU rallied in the final 15 minutes of action as the Blue Devils scored four goals after the Diplomats built a 10-4 lead, but Franklin & Marshall held on for the two-goal victory. In goal, Tim Kjeldgaard (So., Yarmouth, ME/Hyde) earned the win making four saves for his third intercollegiate win, while Bob Moseman took the loss and made six saves for the Blue Devils Franklin & Marshall (3-1, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on March 19 versus Washington & Lee at Boy’s Latin School.
