Diplomats & Scranton Play to 0-0 Double Overtime Tie in Men's Soccer

by Sports Information
9/8/05

SCRANTON, PA – Franklin & Marshall College goalie Ed Stelz (Jr., Kew Gardens, NY/Loomis Chaffee) made four saves as the men’s soccer team played to a 0-0 double overtime tie at the University of Scranton.

The tie marks the third straight to open the season for the Diplomats (0-0-3, 0-0 Centennial Conference) as F&M played 1-1 double overtime ties versus Cabrini College and Elizabethtown College on September 1 and 4, respectively, at home. The string also marks the first time F&M has played three straight ties in school history.

The game was a battle of goalies as Scranton’s David Keib recorded nine saves, including four in the second half, on 16 shots, while Stelz faced 11 shots.

The tie improves F&M to 1-3-1 all-time against Scranton since the series began in 1981.

Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on September 10 at Lebanon Valley College. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
