Diplomats Place School Record Six on 2005 All-Centennial Conference Men's Soccer Team

LANCASTER, PA – Franklin & Marshall College forwards Brandon Corday (So., Morton Grove, IL/Niles Township) and Ben Wilson (Sr., Lititz, PA/Lititz Christian), midfielder Chris Campbell (So., Narberth, PA/Friends Central), backs Dave Heller (Sr., Somers, NY/North Salem) and Alex Shuptar (Jr., Philadelphia, PA/Kents Hill) and goalie Ed Stelz (Jr., Kew Gardens, NY/Loomis Chaffee) have been named to the 2005 All-Centennial Conference Men’s Soccer Team. The Diplomats' six selections mark the most in program history eclipsing the previous high of five established by the 2004 team. Prior the 2004, the program highest number of All-Conference players was four as the Diplomats achieved the plateau in 2001 and 2002. Corday repeated as a first team selection in 2005 as he made history becoming the first F&M player and 15th player in Centennial Conference history to earn All-CC first or second team honors as a freshman last year. In addition, he was named to the 2004 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region second team to become the first F&M player named All-Region since forward and 2001 Centennial Conference Player of the Year Scott Runyon ’02 was selected to the NSCAA first team. A member of the October 24 Centennial Conference Honor Roll, Corday has scored five goals with a team high six assists for 16 points in 16 games to raise his career statistics to 13 goals and 12 assists for 39 points. In the Centennial Conference statistics for games through October 30, he ranks among the leaders in shots (fourth, 41), shots per game (seventh, 2.56 spg), points (fifth, 16), points per game (fifth, 1.00 ppg), goals (ninth, five), goals per game (10th, 0.31 gpg), assists (second, six) and assists per game (second, 0.38 apg). Heller and Campbell earned second team honors as the duo combined for one goal and three assists this year while helping F&M rank among the Conference leaders in points (sixth, 64), points per game (sixth, 4,00 ppg), goals (sixth, 24), goals per game (sixth, 1.50 gpg), assists (sixth, 16) and assists per game (sixth, 1.00 apg). A first team All-Conference selection, Heller anchors an F&M defense that has allowed 1.25 goals per game and notched five shutouts this season. One of the team’s tri-captains with Shuptar and Wilson, he has scored two assists in 16 games this year to raise his career scoring total to four assists. Campbell has one goal and one assist this year for three points as he now has five goals and an assist for 11 points in his career. Shuptar, Wilson and Stelz garnered honorable mention accolades as their recognition marks the first All-Conference nod for all three players. A key to the Diplomats’ defense, Shuptar has one goal and one assist for three points this year to raise his career scoring total to four goals and two assists for 10 points. The October 17 Centennial Conference and Eastern College Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, Wilson was also recognized on the October 31 Centennial Conference Honor Roll as he has scored eight goals and one assist for 17 points in 12 games this year. A 2004 and 2005 team captain, he has been among the most prolific scorers in the Conference this year as he ranks among the Centennial Conference leaders in goals (fourth, eight), goals per game (first, 0.67 gpg), points (fourth, 17) and points per game (second, 1.42 ppg). For his career, he has 10 goals and two assists for 22 points in his career as he entered the 2005 season after scoring two goals and one assist in his first three seasons as a Diplomat. A member of the September 6, 12 and October 10 Centennial Conference Honor Roll, Stelz has a 0.96 goals against average and .816 save percentage as he has allowed 14 goals and made 62 saves in 1317:07 while recording an 8-3-3 record and four shutouts. For his career, he holds a .834 save percentage and a .959 goals against average with 9.5 shutouts, 33 goals allowed and 166 saves in 3096:10.
