Diplomats Ice Bowdoin 6-3 in Men's Squash

NEW HAVEN, CT – #15 Franklin & Marshall College closed out a 4-0 weekend with a 6-3 victory over the #14 Bowdoin College Polar Bears in men’s squash at Yale University.

The Diplomats dominated the top half of the matches as Rushabh Vora (Fr., Mumbai, Maharashtra/HR College Commerce & Economic) downed Matt Dresher 9-3, 9-5, 9-1 at #1, Satajit Seshadri (Jr., Chennai, India/Gill Adarsh) handled Bruce Saltzman 9-0, 9-2, 6-9, 9-6 at #2, Ry Hawley (Fr., Golden, CO/Evergreen) stopped Zach Linhart 3-9, 9-4, 9-4, 9-0 at #4 and Ed Bryan (Sr., Katonah, NY/Choate Rosemary) held off Nick Adams 9-5, 10-8, 3-9, 9-6 at #5.

Seth Cruice (So., Darien, CT/Greens Farms Academy) and Shane Slater (Fr., St. Vincent & the Grenadines/St. Vincent) also added wins for Franklin & Marshall as the pair knocked off Elliot Beck (9-7, 7-9, 10-8, 9-6) and Chris Metcalf (9-5, 9-7, 9-6) at #6 and #8, respectively, to seal the win.

The win improves the Diplomats to 3-8 all-time against Bowdoin in men’s squash and snaps a five match losing streak to the Polar Bears dating back to a 7-2 F&M win on February 25, 2000 at the NISRA Team Championships hosted by Yale.

Overall, F&M finished 4-0 at Yale as the Diplomats handled #12 Bates College (6-3 W), #14 Bowdoin, #18 St. Lawrence University (9-0 W) and #24 Connecticut College (9-0 W).

Franklin & Marshall (8-5) will return to action on January 25 at Haverford College. Historically, the Diplomats are 15-1 all-time against the Fords as Franklin & Marshall has won the last 15 meetings following a Haverford victory in 1967.
