Barrett Named March 29 Centennial Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week; Johns Named to Honor Roll

LANCASTER, PA -- Franklin & Marshall College pitcher Alison Barrett (Sr., South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) has been named the March 29 Centennial Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, while outfielder Dana Johns (So., York, PA/Eastern York) was recognized on the Conference Honor Roll.

Last week, Barrett went 3-1 with a 1.40 ERA as she pitched 30.0 innings, four complete games, registered a save, walked two and struck out 16 as the Diplomats evened their record at 5-5, 2-0 in Centennial Conference play.

Against Washington, she went seven innings allowing two runs on four hits in a 2-1 win. Earlier in the week, she went nine innings allowing seven hits, three earned runs and two walks with eight strikeouts to earn a complete game win and a victory in relief as Franklin & Marshall knocked off Lebanon Valley 5-2 and 5-4 in non-conference action. She concluded her week by allowing an unearned run in the sixth inning in a 1-0 loss to regional power Moravian College.

On the year, she ranks among the Conference leaders in saves (first, one), wins (second, four), ERA (third, 1.14), batters struck out (seventh, 24), innings pitched (9th, 37.0) and batting average (14th, .375).

For her career, she is now 17-14 with 107 strikeouts in 197.1 innings of work.

Johns earned mention on the honor roll after a week in which she hit .474 (nine-for-19) with two runs scored, one double and a week high nine RBI while compiling a .526 slugging percentage an stealing three bases.

Against Washington, she doubled home two runs in the fifth inning in support of Barrett for the deciding factor in a 2-1 come from behind victory in game one.

On the year, Johns ranks among the Conference leaders in batting average (15th, .370) and sacrifice bunts (fifth, four).

Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on March 30 at home versus McDaniel College in a Centennial Conference doubleheader. Game one is set for 2:30 p.m.
