by Sports Information
9/28/01

BRYN MAWR, PA -- Maureen Lafferty (So., Collegeville, PA/Villa Maria) tallied eight aces as the Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats tallied a record 24 service aces to down Bryn Mawr College 30-19, 30-20, 30-16 to improve to 8-4, 3-1 in Centennial Conference play.

The service ace mark erases the 15-point game record of 19 service aces from an October 21, 1995 versus Dickinson College. Overall, F&M's average of eight aces per game nearly equaled the school record of 10 aces in a game set in October 1995 against Dickinson.

Statistically, F&M would dominate the match as Heidi Goedicke (Jr., Spring Church, PA/Elderton) and Kristen Kowalski (Jr., York, PA/Central York) tallied 10 kills to lead the team. Setter Jen Grue (So., Canton, PA/Canton) added 36 assists, while Emily Green (Sr., Woodstock, CT/Woodstock) chipped in seven service aces and eight kills.

Green's seven aces erased the school record of 6 held by Karis Conner (Sr., Reading, PA/Holy Name) and Erin Ody. The starting defensive specialist, Conner did it on 9/26/99 against Goucher, while Ody accomplished the feat against Dickinson in 1995.

Senior middle blocker Alison Ayers , sophomore outside hitter Katy Baumann and senior setter Molly Kaput each had three kills for Bryn Mawr in the loss.

With the loss, Bryn Mawr falls to 2-11 overall and 0-3 in the Centennial Conference.
