Diplomats Handle York, 3-0 in Volleyball

LANCASTER, PA -- Heidi Goedicke (Jr., Spring Church, PA/Elderton) registered a game high 16 digs and 14 kills as the Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats defeated York College of Pennsylvania 3-0 (30-14, 30-21, 30-14) on Friday in non-conference volleyball action. F&M would never be challenged by the Spartans as they controlled the match from the opening serve. Setter Jen Grue (So., Canton, PA/Canton) tallied 38 assists and two service aces to spark the Diplomats to their 12th victory of the season. Overall, the win would mark F&M's second victory over York in a week as the Diplomats topped them 30-25, 30-24, 33-31 last Friday in the opening round of the Juniata College Invitational. Emily Green (Sr., Woodstock, CT/Woodstock) led the team in service aces with four as York dropped their eighth straight match since a 3-0 defeat of Goucher College on September 19. Melissa Mahoney was the high woman for York scoring four kills and blocking one F&M attempt, and tied with Laura Shaw for the team lead in service aces with one. Franklin & Marshall College will continue the season on Saturday, October 6 in a 7:00 p.m. home match versus Ursinus College.
