Grue Named October 8th Centennial Conference Volleyball Player of the Week

LANCASTER, PA -- The Centennial Conference Office announced today that Franklin & Marshall College setter Jen Grue (So., Canton, PA/Canton) has been named to the Conference Player of the Week for the period ending October 8th. Last week, Grue tallied 51 assists to establish a new three-game record for the Diplomats in a 30-12, 35-33, 30-19 win over Swarthmore in the Mayser Center. Overall, she racked up 130 assists in nine games for a 3-0 week for F&M with victories over Swarthmore, York and Ursinsus College. The previous record had been 49 by Jamie Cardman set in a November 2, 1996 match versus Eastern Mennonite University. For the year, Grue now has 687 set assists in 64 games (10.73 apg) to lead the Centennial Conference in the category. Lauren Boyd of Gettysburg College is ranked second with 10.11 assists per game through 57 games. Grue's current pace of 10.73 assists per game is .07 better than the school single season record of 10.66 assists per game set in 1996 by Cardman. Individually, several Diplomats are also ranked in the Conference statistics. Team co-captain Emily Green (Sr., Woodstock, CT/Woodstock) is ranked 12th in hitting percentage (.252), fourth in service aces (0.77) and 10th in digs (3.80) as the Diplomats are now 13-6 overall, 5-1 in Centennial Conference play. Middle hitter Rose Hartmann (Jr., Warminster, PA/William Tennet) ranks sixth in hitting percentage (.275), while outside hitters Kristen Kowalski (Jr., York, PA/Central York) and Heidi Goedicke (Jr., Spring Church, PA/Elderton) place eighth (3.08) and sixth (3.130 in kills per game. In hitting percentage, Kowalski ranks fourth (.297) and Goedicke (.257) is tenth. Goedicke also ranks fifth in digs (4.02) as the Diplomats are among the Conference's best in several categories as a team. Combined, F&M is first in kills (12.77) and hitting percentage (.263), second in assists (11.69) and digs (21.78), third in service aces (3.18) and seventh in blocks (1.68) per game. Franklin & Marshall will continue the season on October 12-13 at the Western Maryland Invitational, before traveling to Lebanon Valley on the 15th for a 7:00 p.m. game.
