Kowalski & Skibbie Lead F&M Over Johns Hopkins 3-0 in Volleyball

LANCASTER, PA - Kristen Kowalksi (Sr., York, PA/ Central York) and Jackie Skibbie (Fr., Darby, PA/ Merion Mercy) helped the Diplomats defeat Johns Hopkins University 3-0 in volleyball. The Diplomats started the match on the right foot as they rolled off 11 straight points en route to take the opening game 30-19 behind eight assists, eight digs and an assisted block from Skibbie. The Blue Jays tested Franklin & Marshall in the second as the Diplomats received six kills apiece from Kowalski and Heidi Goedicke (Sr., Elderton, PA/ Spring Church) in a 30-27 victory. The third and final game was a seesaw battle before the Diplomats finally broke away to take the game 33-31 behind six kills from Kowaslki. Skibbie chipped in with 16 assists as the Diplomats improve to 25-6, 9-0 Centennial Conference. On the day, Kowalski recorded 14 kills while Skibbie added 40 assists and 14 digs. Maureen Lafferty (Jr., Collegeville, PA/ Villa Maria) had a team high 16 digs. The Diplomats will return to action on October 30 when they travel to Gettysburg College. First serve is set for 7 p.m. Franklin & Marshall can claim the Centennial Conference regular season championship and clinch the #1 berth in the upcoming Centennial Conference playoffs with a win.
